T 2.47 Insecure transport of files and data media

The transportation of documents, data media, or files between the organisation and other locations, for example a home workplace, poses the following risks:

• They could be lost somewhere along the transportation route
• They could be stolen somewhere along the transportation route
• They could be read or manipulated somewhere along the transportation route
• They could be given to the wrong recipient

The destruction, loss of confidentiality, or manipulation of such items can cause serious damage, especially when there is only one copy of the corresponding item.
