Portable IT systems such as laptops, PDAs, or mobile telephones are popular targets for thieves due to their compact design. For this reason, they also need to be stored in a secure place even when they are in a supposedly secure office. Therefore, the safeguards described in module S 2.3 Office / local workplace must be taken into account as well. Since a portable IT system is particularly easy to hide and transport, such devices should be locked in or chained to a cabinet or desk, for example, when not in use.
