S 5.46 Installing stand-alone-systems for Internet use

Initiation responsibility: IT Security Officer, Head of IT

Implementation responsibility: Administrator

In order to reduce the threat of attacks on local data or computers in the LAN from the Internet, it is advisable to use computers which only have an Internet connection and no further network connection to a LAN.

For this purpose, the different operating systems offer various options for ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of data, each of which carries specific threats.

More detailed descriptions on how stand-alone systems can be used securely for Internet access can be found in module S 3.208 Internet PCs.
